LOCATION: The Museum's ENTRANCE gate is at the East end of 9th Street. The Museum is adjacent to the tracks of the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway, in downtown Wichita Falls, Texas. OPERATING HOURS: The Museum is open: Saturdays 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm (Gates Close at 3:30pm) Winter Season Hours: The Museum will be open by Appointment Only, December through March. Call 940-723-2661 to set up an appointment 2 weeks in advance - Minimum. INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTE: If the temperature OR chill factor is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or there is precipitation falling, or forecast to fall, the museum may not open or may close early. If the weather is inclement, call before coming. If it is Raining, the Museum is closed. Birthday parties, may be arranged by calling 940-723-2661 between 12:30noon and 3:30pm. Please Note: The Birthday car is Not heated or air conditioned and can Not be shared with the Dining Car. Also, the Picnic tables are available for Birthday Parties too. School Tours must be arranged by *phone at 940-723-2661 between 12:30noon and 3:30pm. A $1.00 per student fee will be "required". A *deposit is required being 1/2 the total amount. TAX STATUS: The Wichita Falls Railroad Museum is recognized as a non-profit charitable organization under Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code; all donations are fully tax deductible. THE COLLECTION: The Museum has a collection of 14 railroad rolling stock units, 8 motor car units and memorabilia, much of it related to the railroads that served and are serving Wichita Falls. The Museum's three-track yard is located on what was the site of the Wichita Falls Union Passenger Station. Click here for a view of the area. MODEL RAILROAD LAYOUT: The Museum has a 20' by 6' modular HO scale railroad layout housed in one of the Museum's MKT Troop Sleepers. This layout is operated on random Saturdays.CLICK HERE |
