GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION: The Museum's front gate is at the East end of 9th Street and its intersection with the tracks of the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway, in downtown Wichita Falls, Texas. The street address is 500 9th Street. (This is not a mailing address)

OPERATING HOURS: The Museum is open:

Tuesday - Saturday 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm (Gates Close at 3:30pm)

INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTE: If the temperature OR chill factor is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or there is precipitation falling, or forecast to fall, the museum may not open or may close early. If the weather is inclement, call before coming.

Birthday parties, may be arranged by calling Oscar at 940-723-2661 between 12:30noon and 3:30pm. At Least 72 hours notice and *deposit must be made prior to event. Or *phone Oscar for inquiries: 940-723-2661 between 12:30 Noon and 3:30pm central time.

School Tours must be arranged by *phone at 940-723-2661 between 12:30noon and 3:30pm. A $1.00 per student fee will be "required". A *deposit is required being 1/2 the total amount. Phone Oscar for questions: 940-723-2661 between 12:30 Noon and 3:30pm central time.

Photo Shoots can also be arranged by Oscar by *phone 940-723-2661 between 12:30 Noon and 3:30pm central time.

Operators answer our phones 24 hours per day to forward your phone number to the responsible party. They do not schedule parties or tours. They cannot give you information. This is a service provided when you cannot call during business hours.

Please Note:

- (1)It is important that you speak directly to Oscar. To speak directly to Oscar, you must call between 12:30 and 3:30pm. (2)If the phone rings over 3 times, hang up and call back a few moments later, otherwise it will automaticly be answered by the answering service who can not coordinate any services of the Museum. (3)If you are Long Distance, the Museum cannot call you back.

* Deposit
Your deposit is your guarentee you will be there as planned, and therefore NOT refundable.
Deposits are one half (1/2) of the total amount of the fees. A Deposit is required. 1/2 of the amount of the service you request will be the Deposit.

After Hours or Before Hours
- For events that cannot be scheduled during Normal Hours, a $25.00 fee will be charged to Open Early, or Stay late to close after your event. This $25.00 fee must be paid in CASH directly to Oscar "Prior to" the event Start Time. This is in addition to any rental or head count fee.

ADMISSION CHARGES:

There is no admission charge. We operate on donations.

When open, The Museum is also available for childrens birthday parties; the charge is $75.00 with deposit. Phone Oscar 940-723-2661.
Note: Our Kitchen and tables in the Pullman Car and picnic tables outside are for your Birthday Parties.

When Open, The Dining Car is available for Business Luncheons, Business meetings, catered meals, Holliday meals and Holliday events. The charge is $150.00 for 2 hours, with deposit.

PLEASE NOTE: This Dining car is NOT AVAILABLE for School parties, Graduation parties, Youngsters parties & events or any other Non Adult related activities, and cannot be rented by adults for such.

When Closed, "and when Museum is available," There will be a $25.00 *fee, per employee who has to be present during a party and to lock and/or unlock the Museum, before and after the scheduled party. This fee must be paid at least 72 hours in advance.

* Fee is non-refundable.

Meetings, catered Meals and Special Groups, may be arranged by calling Oscar by phone At 940-723-2661 between 12:30noon and 3:30pm. At least 72 hours notice and *deposit must be made prior to your event. You must schedule these by phone 940-723-2661.

MEMBERSHIP: The Museum has four annual membership levels:

Executive @ $15.00

Double Executive @ $16.00; include your spouse for only $1.00 more than an Executive Membership

Associate @ $8.00

Virtual @ $10.00 transacted entirely over the internet and paid by PayPal - see the homepage.

TAX STATUS: The Wichita Falls Railroad Museum is recognized as a non-profit organization under Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code; all donations are fully tax deductible.

THE COLLECTION: The Museum has a collection of 14 railroad rolling stock units, 8 motor car units and memorabilia, much of it related to the railroads that served and are serving Wichita Falls. The Museum's three-track yard is located on what was the site of the Wichita Falls Union Passenger Station. Click here for a view of the area.

MODEL RAILROAD LAYOUT: The Museum has a 20' by 6' modular HO scale railroad layout housed in one of the Museum's MKT Troop Sleepers. This layout is operated on random Saturdays.CLICK HERE
