"We're Moving Ahead" We are The New and Improved Wichita Falls Railroad Museum because the current "team" will be working and planning to make many good things happen at the Museum for the 2011 seasons. This Museum has accomplished things recently and has seen some very positive moves that it has never seen before in its history.

Due to extremely dry weather in the City of Wichita Falls the ď4th in the FallsĒ celebration has been postponed once again. The event, in itís entirety, has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 31st beginning at 6pm.

Our Kiddie Train is scheduled to be inside the Exhibit hall giving rides to all. Yes, in the airconditioned or heated comfort. Come join us!!!!

A Blast from the Past is the theme for this months Newsletter. The below photos came from the year 2005. You will probably notice some drastic changes, in some photos from 2005 till now. Side note, if you don't see any changes, you really need to visit the museum. Some of the people in the photos look very different. This month is pretty light on whats happening at the museum other than the normal Saturdays fun.

We start the older photos off from inside the Dining Car before the last remodel.

Many meetings and meals have been in here, including our "test run" meeting with finger foods. Also the first meeting open to the business people around town to show off our newly renovated dining car. Also, this happened just prior to Christmas as seen by the decorations.

A short distance away Kenny, Jim Hughes and Ray are doing their jobs at the Museum. Kenny has been the gift shop manager for several years and the gift shop has come a long way. Jim is giving a special scheduled tour for the kiddos as he dresses in his conductor uniform and plays the part well. Ray was president this year.

From 2005 Here are just a few shots of the past. The top 3 photos are of Chuck Heimerdinger and Ray Grube as Ray gives him his certificate for the $1000.00 donation to the museum. Chuck stopped in to visit the museum on his way across the country. Thank You again Chuck!!!!

The next few photos show the land to the south when we had it before the fence went up.

The next photos show the way we used to look in the parades before we got the "Kiddie Trains".

We are looking for more than a few good members, and we need YOU to be one of them.

Like many historic preservation museums, we are in need of funding to continue future operations and growth. Limited funding means we don't always get to maintain our equipment as we would like. Our overhead is not huge. However, just paying the utilities each month often keeps us from painting, replacing wood, and doing necessary repairs of numerous items.

Our current monthly cost for utilities is approximately: Water - $60.00, Phone - $60.00, Electricity - $160.00, and Gas - $20.00. Trying to maintain a family friendly entrance fee of $1 per person, we need 300 visitors a month just to cover these costs. If you like our Museum, like what you see, and like what we bring to the community, please help by becoming a member. Thank You.

We have several levels of membership to fit your budget.

____ Railroad Tycoon - $500+

____ Engineer - $250+

____ Brakeman - $100+

____ Conductor - $50+

____ Passenger - $20+

*All levels of giving include a one-year family membership (providing free entry into the museum, free rides on the kiddie train and pump car, the Railroad Museum Newsletter, and invitations to special events).

Tycoon and Engineer levels also have the opportunity to use the Pullman or Dinning Car at a reduced rate.

Train Videos of the month

This video is called the "Ghost Train" video because these two locomotives are non running and somewhat incomplete. With no means of power to move them and the eery metal clanking clanking sound as they move, the "Ghost Train" just seemed appropriate for the October Newsletter. See what you think and don't worry about the chill bumps.
(2 min. 47 sec.)

Our friend Bob Rockwell who used to be with our nuseum, left Texas for Kansas and joined the museum that restored this locomotive. Looks like they made a nice Locomotive again.

We still need sombody who is willing to bring their Camcorder and tripod to the Museum during our events and video record parts of the event.

We are attempting to document these events for historical purposes, for the Museum Newsletters and archives. Electronic digital records are a must these days. Your camcorder can be analog (tape) and I will digitize the museum's copy & yours will be untouched.
