Welcome to the February Newsletter. We have slowed down for the Winter months as it has certainly been cold. Our momentum will still be going strong behind the scenes as we prepare for the Spring and Summer seasons. We are still open on Saturday Afternoons as long as the temperature is above 40 degrees and precipitation is not falling.

I have elected to place photos and videos on this Newsletter while we are sitting home on these Cold Days. I may do this again till we get going in the spring & summer months. Let me know if you like them.

History from years back in this edition
from the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum

Old Photos Below are photos from some old "Negatives". Yes, all I had were negatives so I scanned them in & worked them over with my photo editor and the result is some old historic photos.

Fortunately, the negatives were very large, about 4 inches by 5 inches. They had many fingerprints and scrapes & scratches till I edited most of them out.

In case you can't tell it, the steam locomotive is the FW&D 314, a sister to our 304. The Doodlebug is #20, and I can't tell anything about the other "big boy" looking steamer.

Delbert says the Zephyr in the photo may be of the 1st time it came to town. The Last photo is of the Henrietta Tx. depot.

The photos and videos are from the Delbert Todd collection.

In this months Newsletter we have some very historical videos from years back of the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum. I have Digitized and Edited the videos, and copied them from VCR tapes to computer formats.

Due to the economic downturn, all museums are surely running out of money, memberships are low, the cost of living has gone up, and so on & so forth. Therefore, our DVD's will be For Sale and sales will be a "Fund Raiser" for the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum.

Soon I will have the full length, videos on DVD of this rich history ready for all own. The Museum will be selling these two DVD's for $10.00ea or $20.00 for the pair. Yes, since the economy is so bad, we are keeping the dollar amount as low as possible. They will not have the fancy color graphic labels as in the past, and this is to hold down the costs.

If you would like to make a larger donation to the Museum, please feel welcome to do so. The Maintainence repairs, and painting continue to add up. We appreciate your support.

Now, on with the video clips...................

If you have any Digital Photos, Digital videos, VCR Tapes, Camcorder Tapes etc, of Historic value and relevant to the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum, and would like to share them with all of us, please let me know. I will make a copy and place them on our newsletters for all to see and/or place them on our website. Thanks !

A Big Thanks to Delbert Todd for shooting and sharing these videos with us. Without him and his camcorder, these videos would not be possible.

Restaurants and Cafe's........

If you would like to donate meals to the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum "We're Moving Ahead" program, please contact Joe Tom White at 692-3766 for assistance. The "We're moving ahead" program utilizes Inmates from the Wichita County Sheriff's Office "Work Program", our Board Members, Deputy's, volunteers and museum members for manpower in painting, cleaning, mowing and general labor. These folks work hard and appreciate a good meal. You prepare it, we pick it up and deliver it.

If you make your charitable contribution or donation of meals, you too will get a customized ad in our newsletters with your logo, slogan & etc. You can make a great difference in the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum by helping others to feed the folks who work hard for the museum.

See the ad's below of the contributors who have been proud to sponsor such events. Your ad can show up here too!!! Subs... BBQ... Tacos... Hamburgers... Chicken... Dosen't matter.

Kenny has asked that if you see something that needs some attention at the museum, "don't send a message to him", just come on down & pitch in and give us a hand. He says we need more of our members being active participants even if you can't stay long. Don't be shy, We would love to see you there.
